The Lower 9th Ward Homeownership Association (L9WHA) was founded after Hurricane Katrina to help residents return and rebuild. Today, we’re here to empower Lower 9th Ward residents with the tools, knowledge, and support needed to strengthen our community. Our mission is to promote homeownership and resident-led revitalization efforts so our neighborhood can thrive.

We offer free events throughout the year to help residents access valuable resources, grow the community, and learn about L9WHA services. Join us for our annual Housing Summit & Community Resource Fair and help us set the course for the next 20 years of community success.

The L9WHA is dedicated to helping our fellow residents access the housing resources they need. From assistance with green infrastructure to access to free classes, we make sure you have the tools you need to be empowered in your homeownership.

Your donation helps Lower 9th Ward residents thrive. Every gift supports housing resources, community education, beautification projects, and the events that keep revitalization moving forward. Together, we’re building a stronger, more vibrant neighborhood for generations to come.
